A fantastic run of good form from Orange County Blues FC continued Saturday in the desert, as the Blues defeated Arizona United SC 3-0 at Scottsdale Stadium.

Goals by Christopher Santana, Denzel Slager, and Pavle Popara led OC Blues FC to their fourth-straight win, and move their unbeaten streak to six matches. The win also moves OC back into the Western Conference playoff picture.

From the opening whistle, Orange County controlled the pace of the match, with Christofer Ramirez finding the back of the net in the 15th minute, only for it to be called back for offside. The first goal of the match would come 20 minutes later, as Josh Suggs made some nifty moves on the left to get past United defenders and cross to Santana, who fired the one-timer past Arizona goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski.

After the halftime break, Arizona may have upped the pressure, but couldn’t convert any of their chances. In the 78th minute, Tyler Feeley, a Glendale, Ariz. native playing in front of family and friends, slotted a ball inside the left channel to Slager, who finished to put OC up 2-0. Popara sealed the victory in 2nd half stoppage time, scoring off a United turnover just outside their own penalty area.

OC improves to 11-8-3, with 36 points on the season, moving up to 4th place in the Western Conference, and the top six finishers advance to the playoffs. Arizona United moves to 8-13-1, with 25 points.

The Blues will look to make it five in a row and seven unbeaten next Saturday, August 22nd, as they visit the Austin Aztex in Austin, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT.
