The blue side of Manchester is blossoming. Expectations for Manchester City FC have soared with the arrival of Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Airways Stadium. Since the big-money takeover of the club in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour, the club has experienced exponential growth and this year looks set to reach a new level with the addition of legendary coach Pep Guardiola.

Along with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach, Manchester City also welcomes a pristine new kit for the 2016-17 season. Featuring a new crest that depicts the Manchester ship, three rivers and the red rose of Lancashire, along with text and trim that pays respect to the year 1894 when City was first founded, the home kit combines the traditional City blue with a darker blue detailing.

Guardiola is widely acknowledged as a stickler for detail, and the club’s new match and training apparel incorporates the newly designed Nike AeroSwift technology that is designed to enhance mobility, reduce weight and reduce the distractions that can detract from a player’s performance. With these added improvements, Guardiola can rest assured that his players will be able to focus on learning how to play the Guardiola way.

The advanced performance technology in the kit is visible on the chest, where engineered knit zones create a geometric pattern that enhances fit with smaller mesh shapes at the bottom of the graphic.

What do you make of the new kit? Can City regain the Premier League title and push deeper into the European Champions League than ever before? That is Guardiola’s remit, and it remains to be seen if he’s equal to the task.
