Lizzy Raben Signs with AC Sparta Praha

A huge congratulations is in order for Colorado Rush and soon to be Duke University alumna Lizzy Raben who signed a professional contract with AC Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic! Lizzy recently partook in a one week trial at Sparta (pictured at right, back row center) and was offered a contract to return upon her graduation from Duke in May. The Czech season runs until the end of June and then Raben will have a one-month break before starting training for the 2017/18 season in early August.

Sparta Praha is currently in second place in the 8-team Czech Women’s League, three points behind leaders Slavia Praha (a local rival). They have a history of participation in the Women’s Champions League including an opening round appearance in 2016. A dominant side in the Czech Republic, Sparta Praha have won 18 of the 23 titles ever won in the country.

Raben was a four year starter at Duke and a Team Captain her Senior season. While at Colorado Rush, Raben was a top defender for one of the top ECNL team’s in the country. During her time at Rush, Raben had several stints with the US Youth National team program including the 2012 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying tournament which was won by the Americans and the U17 Women’s World Cup the same year. Lizzy also played for several seasons for the Colorado Rush Women in the W-League. She was named an NCSAA All-American in 2012. Raben is the fourth Colorado Rush player continuing her career overseas this summer joining Denali Murnan and Sam Harder (Ramat HaSharon in Israel) and Bri Campos (Aland United in Finland).
