47 NWSL Players Represented at the 2015 Women’s World Cup

With the 2015 Women’s World Cup under way, the National Women’s Soccer League has entered a 12-day break during the group stage of the tournament as the league is seeing numerous players competing in Canada. There are a total of 47 players across a total of 10 different countries in the tournament that currently play in the NWSL.

The top represented teams are the United States (22 players) and Canada (11 players), with Australia and Mexico being the second largest contributor to the tournament with four a piece.

Other countries that have players in the NWSL consist of Brazil, Cameroon, England, Germany, New Zealand and Nigeria.

The Chicago Red Stars and Portland Thorns lead the way with a total of eight players sent to represent their national team. All nine of the NWSL clubs will have at least two players at the tournament, with six clubs being represented by a total of five or more players from the NWSL.

The NWSL will be highly represented, as each day of group play will include a player from the league.
