The 2015 college soccer regular season is in full swing and TopDrawerSoccer.com just dropped its Midseason Men’s Freshman Top 100 College Soccer Player Rankings. Included in the list are 10 California natives and 5 out-of-state players who are playing at California schools.
The highest ranked Californian on the list is JT Marcinkowski who checks in at #3. The Alamo native has been earned 24 caps for the U-14 through U-18 U.S. National Teams with 13 shutouts. Marcinkowski’s success at the international level has carried over to the collegiate level where he has helped Georgetown jump out to a 10-2-2 record. In 15 starts, Marcinkowski has allowed just 11 goals and has recorded 7 shutouts.
Geoffery Acheampong, #4, is the next Californian on the list. Acheampong is an assist machine for UC Santa Barbara. In 17 games, he has notched 10 assists including the game-winner against Cal State Fullerton (assist starts at the 16-second mark).
The other California natives in the top 25 of Top Drawer Soccer’s rankings are Amir Bashti and Justin Vom Steeg.
The top two players who play for California schools, but are from out-of-state, are Jackson Yueill (Minnesota) and Jose Hernandez (Arizona), who both play at UCLA. Both players have combined for 13 goals and eight assists in 29 matches. In the video below Hernandez records a brace (first UCLA goal and last UCLA goal) and Yueill assists on the first Hernandez goal.
