San Marcos Revolution & SMYS to rebrand as City SC San Marcos for 2020 Season
After nine years of incredible growth on and off the field the 2,000 player strong San Marcos, California based club, is excited to continue to build on their success under the City SC brand. San Marcos becomes the third club to adopt the City SC brand, following founding club Carlsbad, and partner club City SC Temecula.
“The mission for San Marcos Youth Soccer has always been to provide a locally managed soccer program that offers recreational, competitive, social and physical development for children of all ages regardless of skill level and financial ability” says City SC San Marcos President Michael Snow. “Our partnership with City SC expands on that mission and strengthens our commitment to our players and families in our community” added VP Sean Houshmandi.
The partnership sees the City SC player pool expand to over 7,000 players. “San Marcos joining the City SC brand will further our mission of igniting a passion for soccer in every player. Being able to offer a full development pathway to every player in our neighboring communities is a great opportunity for families” said City SC Technical Director Steve Cowell.
City SC Director of Operations Michael Duggan says he is “delighted to welcome San Marcos to the City SC family.” Duggan continued to say that “both the Carlsbad and San Marcos clubs are closely aligned with their community-based values — which makes the partnership a great fit.”
Representing the same brand will open the door for City SC San Marcos players to access a genuine pathway to compete at the highest levels via the City SC San Diego Academy teams which compete in the prestigious MLS Academy league (boys) and the newly founded Girls Academy League, amongst other platforms.
“Our objective has always been to put the player first, and offer them the opportunity to play at the highest level available” commented City SC San Marcos Director of Coaching Nick Perera. “Through this new partnership, we will be able to offer the complete player pathway, alongside a club that shares our passion and commitment to community values and player development” added Competitive Director Tracy Rich.
Both San Marcos and founding club Carlsbad have large recreational programs, offering seasonal soccer programs to over 4,000 recreational soccer players and families.
“We are always listening to the community to provide more options to play the sport that we all love” said City SC San Marcos Recreation Directors Jacob Sado. “Partnering with City SC will allow us to grow the recreational program that caters to children of all ages regardless of skill level and providing a clear and direct path to our competitive program. The partnership will allow us to do this and much more” added fellow Recreation Director Nelson Escudero.
