The U.S. Men’s National Team is set for upcoming friendly matches in preparation for the Gold Cup that begins in July. The U.S. will face the Netherlands at Amsterdam Arena on June 5th, with the second match being against World Cup title-holder Germany in Cologne five days later.

Headliners of the German roster include Mario Götze, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mesut Özil who play in a Euro 16 qualifier match against Gibraltar three days later. With Philipp Lahm retiring from international soccer and Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller not available, the match will provide the United States an opportunity to challenge the German side that defeated all challengers in the World Cup last summer.

The match also sees the friendly competition between fellow managers Jurgen Klinsmann and Jogi Löw. During the 2006 World Cup, Löw served Klinsmann’s top assistant while the now U.S. manager served as the German coach.

With the Gold Cup arriving in a little over a month, these friendly matches will surely provide the U.S. with the necessary preparation as the team looks to repeat its Gold Cup title this summer.
