The Copa Del Mar tournament was a huge success for the Del Mar Sharks family in 2018.

Played at venues across northern San Diego, Copa Del Mar always brings together the Southern California soccer community for a great weekend of youth soccer.

Trophies, medals, and “CHAMPIONS” hats were a huge hit for the youth teams that made it all the way to the championship game.

Tournament Director Jeremy Shadeed explained, “We had over 300 teams participate this year. Last year, we had around 250, so we’re growing each year. This year we had seven to eight thousands playing at fields across Carmel Valley. The Surf Cup Sports Park [Del Mar Polo Fields] were our main fields, and they’ve been great.”

Shanon MacMillan, Sharks DOC, was quick to praise the efforts of Shadeed and the Sharks community: ““Jordan has done a phenomenal job running the tournament this year.”

“The most important thing for us, since we are a community-based club, is the volunteer effort. The volunteers are so important.  They help us all year long, but especially for this event. They all step up. Hundreds of them working so hard to bring this together. It’s really great to see the Sharks community come together to put on such a great tournament for San Diego youth.”
