As the Temecula FC Quails enter their third National Premier Soccer League season the expectations continue to rise. Temecula FC was founded in 2013 to with the mission of improving lives in Temecula through soccer, community service and special programs. It also wanted to be the premier platform in the region for the best soccer players to reach the next level of American soccer. In two short seasons, Temecula FC has already started to see some results, especially at the individual level.

In 2015, Temecula FC played in the highly competitive Southwestern Conference where every team was loaded with great young players. The wealth of great young talent in the Southwestern region is what makes the NPSL so great. Temecula FC Owner Brandon Jantz excitedly stated, “I’m excited for the 2016 season for two main reasons. One, this league is a great opportunity for our players to be ‘Put in the shop window’ in a nationally recognized league. Two, we like the challenge of representing a smaller city than teams from LA, Orange County or even San Diego.” The NPSL is a great platform for American soccer players that are close to becoming bona fide professional players at the NASL or even MLS level. Jantz proudly shares that Temecula FC has a player in this year’s MLS Combine, another that is playing in Scotland with Airdrie FC and one that plays for the Guam national team.

“These guys are close to playing at the next level and getting paid to play soccer as a job. That’s why we love this league and look to continue to invest considerable amounts into the next level of the American game.”

Jantz also reflected on some of the recent trends in the NPSL with recent expansion, challenges and opportunities for every team in the league, and the United States in general. The recent expansion by the NPSL by adding a dozen teams in the last couple months is a positive sign for the growth of the sport in America. However, Jantz provides a brief word of caution to these new teams. He states, “The priority for any team is to become financially stable in order to have staying power in the league. Engaging the local community, local politicians, and soccer fans through awareness makes the soccer experience a whole lot more fun for everybody.” The NPSL continues to ride the wave of growth of American soccer. There is talk of continued expansion around the league, which is great for teams like the established Temecula FC. Together, all the teams in NPSL can build the game from the ground up!
