SAN Jose – Marc Pelosi is finally going back home after spending 4 years in England with Liverpool. The 21-year old who was once one of the biggest American prospects is also part of the U-23 U.S. National Team.

Pelosi is from Sunnyvale, California and grew playing soccer with De Anza Force club until he started playing for the U-17 National Team and was scouted by Liverpool.

There have been rumors surrounding Pelosi’s interest and the Earthquakes, and this Friday the deal was finally closed. It all happened through the Allocation Ranking List that determines which MLS club has priority to sign players including “elite youth U.S. Men’s National Team players”.

[quote_box_center]“Marc is a good young player with a bright future,” Earthquakes general manager John Doyle said in a statement. “We are happy to bring him to his hometown club.”[/quote_box_center]

Pelosi is a natural-born center-midfielder and one that the Earthquakes can really use at this point, as they don’t have someone specifically for this position. This is a win-win situation for both parties, since the club will get a local player that have had experience in an European team and playing at a world-class level; and even though he didn’t make it to the top with Liverpool he is still a quality player for MLS. Pelosi will get exactly what he wants, which is minutes of playing time to prove that he is back at it, he is fit and ready to put his career back on track. This will also benefit Pelosi to get more exposure and play for the senior U.S. National Team.

In 2013 Pelosi broke his leg which stymied his career for over a year. The recovery took about 14 months, and in 2014 he returned, but in June this year, Liverpool decided to release him. He played with the club’s U-18 and U-21 since November of 2011.

As far as the U.S. National Team, Pelosi has been part of it at a young age. He even trained with the senior team under Jurgen Klinsmann, and helped the U-23 team achieve a third place in the Toulon Tournament this year.
