The San Diego Football Center is proud to further serve local coaches and players by presenting the Positional Games Seminar led by the legendary Albert Puig.  He is the former Technical Director of FC Barcelona’s La Masia Academy. Attendees of the seminar will learn the FC Barcelona style positional games, along with the methods and reasoning at the core of the these sessions.

This seminar is designed to help high-level coaches who are dedicated to excellence in development understand the FC Barcelona methodology from a true insider from the club.

The Positional Games Seminar will be held on August 2nd and 3rd from 12:00-3:00 pm in north San Diego at Horizon Prep in an auditorium, and continues on August 4th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for an on-field practical at 4s Ranch Sports Park.

This experience promises a road map to the successful development of players, an organized process to reach developmental goals, and insight into the thought process of those that teach at La Masia.  Positional games that bring alive each drill and session by making them directly applicable to a real game.

The price for one attendee is $250, and $425 for two players with SDFC’s Buddy Discount. Registration details can be found at the SDFC website.

For 5 or more attendees, please email [email protected] for a special group rate.

In addition to the seminar being taught by Albert Puig, The San Diego Football Center has also partnered with Fulham Football Club to providing an opportunity for motivated local players to earn a chance to train in Europe.

At the SDFC Fulham FC ID Camp, Fulham FC’s Academy Player Recruitment Manager, Dan Rice, will be on site to observe players as they participate in a two-days of sessions.

Upon the conclusion of camp, Rice will select the players he feels are capable to travel to England and participate in the SDFC Fulham Training Experience, where they will join their age group in the actual Fulham Academy for a training stint.

The Fulham FC ID Camp is for competitive club boys born between the years 1999-2009. It will be held on August 2nd and 3rd at 4s Ranch Sports Park from 8:00-11:00 am.

The cost is $200 for current SDFC members, and $300 for non-members.

Of note, Luca De La Torre, a San Diego native who recently shined at the U-20 World Cup for the United States, spent valuable time at Fulham, which has long been a friendly place for Americans looking to play abroad. National Team legends like Brian McBride, Clint Dempsey and Carlos Bocanegra all had stints at Fulham and as such, the club has fondly been nicknamed “Fulhamerica”.

The San Diego Football Center Youth Leadership Academy’s mission is to develop leaders on and off the field.  It provides best European practices in player development to motivated local youth, while at the same time harnessing the important life lessons that abound in the beautiful game.
