San Diego’s Paul Arriola has been named to the U.S. Men’s National Team squad by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for an upcoming friendly against Puerto Rico on Sunday.

Arriola is one of seven players named to the roster for Sunday’s match that was not named to Klinsmann’s Copa America preliminary roster. Arriola, who also has been a fixture for the U.S. at the U-17, U-18, and U-20 youth levels, is looking for his first senior cap alongside Club Tijuana teammate Amando Moreno. Also called in is California native Michael Orozco.

The remainder of the players who have been called in have finished their club seasons in Europe or in Mexico. This has allowed Klinsmann to also call in Emerson Hyndman, Julian Green, Caleb Stanko, Fafa Picault, and Zach Steffan.

“We added some players coming from the younger side to look at them and to get a roster together, but the main purpose of this camp is to keep the rhythm, keep going and to transition perfectly into the preparation for the Copa America Centenario,” said Klinsmann.

The remaining players who have been called in were already named to the preliminary roster and they will be competing for a spot in the Copa America.
