CARSON, Calif. (October 3, 2015) – A remarkable 2015 season for Orange County Blues FC came to a close Saturday night, as LA Galaxy II took a 2-0 victory in the USL Western Conference Semifinals.A brace from LA’s Ariel Lassiter, formerly of Albion Soccer Club in San Diego, led the way for LA.A back-and-forth first half led to chances for both sides. Threatening efforts from Denzel Slager and Chris Cortez preceded Lassiter’s first goal in the 14th minute, off a pass from Raul Mendiola. More chances from Cortez, Slager rounded out the first half, as the Blues went into the break down by one.

In the second stanza, both sides turned up the pressure. Goalkeeper Pepe Miranda found himself on a one-on-one in the 51st, and made a fantastic save. Lassiter scored his second goal of the match three minutes later. Orange County seemed to have their chance to pull one back in the 73rd minute, as Chino Santana drew a penalty after being pulled down in the box. Didier Crettenand stepped up to take, but Clement Diop made a big save to keep the Blues off the scoresheet.

The LA defense would hold on for a 2-0 win, moving on to the Western Conference Finals, where they’ll face the winner of the Oklahoma City Energy FC – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC match to be played Sunday night.

Orange County finished a fantastic 2015 season with a 14-10-5 record, winning the Western Conference Regular Season Title.
