Nine Players With Ties To California At Major League Soccer’s All-Star Week

SAN DIEGO – Major League Soccer’s All-Star Week may be more than 1,000 miles away from California in Denver, but it won’t feel like it as nine players with ties to California will play in the MLS Homegrown Game and MLS All-Star Game.

All-Star festivities are scheduled to kick off on Tuesday night, the Major League Soccer’s Homegrown squad faces Club America U-20. Landon Donovan has been named the head coach of the team and he named three California natives to the roster: Bradford Jamieson IV (LA Galaxy), Oscar Sorto (LA Galaxy), and Tommy Thompson (San Jose Earthquakes).

The Homegrown Game will be held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. PT. The match will be available to watch on MLS Live.

The MLS All-Star match will take place the following day and six players on the roster have direct ties to California. Steven Gerrard, Omar Gonzalez, and Robbie Keane will be there representing the LA Galaxy. The other three players are California natives: Nick Rimando (Mointclair), Tony Beltran (Claremont), and Chad Marshall (Riverside).

The match will be played on Wednesday at 6 p.m. PT on Fox Sports 1.
