As we approach the end of NASL’s spring season, the NY Cosmos could be crowned the champions sooner then expected. They will play against Jacksonville on June 13th and only need to tie the game in order to take the tittle home. But also, to their advantage, if Minnesota United and Tampa Bay Rowdies both lose their games, Cosmos would win the championship without even playing their last game.

As far as the Tampa Bay Rowdies, they would need to win the next two games by a large margin in order to surpass Cosmos. However, they just lowered their chances after three of their players got ejected from the game against Indy Eleven. Georgi Hristov, Stefan Antoniijevic and Maicon Santos were all sent off and will not play the next match against FC Edmonton.

Regarding the Minnesota United squad, unfortunately for them Miguel Ibarra will be missing the next match at Carolina as he will be in Europe with the U.S. Men’s National Team to play two friendly matches. So because of this absence, as a key player on the team, Minnesota might also have narrowed their chances to win the tittle.

Lastly, Carolina’s RailHawks are also tied in second place along with Tampa Bay and Minnesota. However, because they only have one match left while the other two teams have two matches left each, it would be impossible for them to surpass the Cosmos but there is still a possibility that they could finish in second place.
