On Saturday morning, Legacy’s Gwen Aron (plays on Legacy’s Excel team with Coach Erin Reinke) will be Arizona’s 2017 Youth Honoree for The Walk To Cure Arthritis at the annual event at the Phoenix Zoo.

Gwen was chosen after being nominated (unbeknownst to us) by Phoenix Children’s Hospital doctors. She was selected to represent the more than 6,000 kids in Arizona living with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis or related conditions to be The Walk to Cure Arthritis Youth Honoree. This is a huge honor, but Gwen deserves the recognition. Despite being wheelchair bound twice and not being able to use her dominant hand and arm, all in the last six months, nothing has stopped her. Even though Gwen was unable to walk or write and in immense pain, she went to school, completed her assignments and supported her teammates. You can help ensure no child, like Gwen, must sit out or live with daily pain.

Registration for tomorrow’s walk start at 6:30 a.m. with the walk commencing at 7:30 a.m.

If you’d like to help Gwen and other fight this disease you can donate and/or join the team walking tomorrow at www.walktocurearthritis.org/arizona/jointwarriors

Gwen also spoke to Arizona Daily Mix about being the honoree as well. You can see her on TV right here.
