Beginning in August of 2017 the Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks will compete in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL).

“Becoming a member club of the ECNL is a tremendous opportunity for our girls,” said Sharks Executive Director Shannon MacMillan. “The ECNL is a proven and respected platform in terms of competition and continued investment in player development.  The league’s core values align perfectly with the DMCV Sharks and we are excited to offer all of the opportunities that come along with a top league to our membership.  Participating in ECNL will showcase and challenge our players, helping to enhance their development both on and off the field.”

MacMillan knows a thing or two about being elite. As a member of the United States Women’s National Team, MacMillan competed in two Women’s World Cups, winning in 1999, and also won an Olympic Gold Medal in 1996. Just last year, MacMillan was inducted into the US Soccer Hall of Fame, and under her leadership, a team coached by Felicia Kappes won back to back US Youth Soccer National Championships in 2013 and 2014, and finished as a National Finalist in 2015.
