College Soccer, and SD Homegrown, on SCTop10

Local San Diego homegrown player, Sydney Sparks, made it onto ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 #6

With a rocket of a shot from the center circle, Sydney Sparks launched onto the nation-wide Sports Center Top 10. Her goal against DePaul left notched into the top left corner of the goal, leaving the DePaul goalie on the ground and the entire DePaul roster in stunned silence.

Check out the goal on Sports Center:

From all of us at SoccerNation, huge congrats to Purdue Soccer and Sydney! Best of luck the rest of the season!

Will we see more SCTop10 goals? SDSU vs USD could very well deliver!

College soccer is clearly on the rise. The quality of soccer, especially in the NCAA D1 conferences, is improving year after year. Tonight, in fact, there’s a huge cross-town rivalry D1 mens soccer match. And it’s free!

Rumor has it that a wealthy SDSU alum donated to the athletics department a few years ago. The stipulation that came with the donation was that all soccer games be FREE for anyone and everyone. All you have to do is find free street parking nearby or pay for parking underneath the Sportsdeck field.

The game itself is sure to be exciting. Plus, there will be a drumline, bounce house for the kids, cheer squads, photo booth, and very rowdy dueling student sections. Plus, the first 500 fans in attendance will also get a light-up bracelet to “Light Up the Night” for SDSU.

Save yourself the LONG WAIT at the ONLY parking pass vending machine under the Sports Deck. Download the “Pay by Phone” app and pay for your parking without waiting in that line. Seriously: You’ll thank me for this as you walk past all of those people waiting in line to pay for parking!

PAY BY PHONE iPhone app here.  There’s an android app as well.

Parking for the Sports Deck is Lot 7 on SDSU’s campus, at the corner of Montezuma & 55th street.

Inside the Pay by Phone app, the lot code is 28507. 2 hours for $6.35, and you can easily extend from inside the app if you need to.

See you there! If you see me or my assistant photographer there, be sure to say hello!
