The Club Tijuana Xolos had a busy week with a lot of players coming and going at the Mexican Soccer transfer meetings in Cancun on Wednesday. The Xolos picked up a total of seven players including midfielders Jose “Chema” Cardenas, Rodrigo Salinas, Diego de Buen, defenders Leiton Jimenez, Uriel Alvarez and Carlos Guzman, and goalkeeper Federico Vilar. Both Cardenas and Salinas look to use their speed to put preasure on opposing teams defense and provide another dimension to the Xolo’s attack this season. Buen will look to be a youthful spark on the backline while Jimenez and Alvarez look to provide experience and a physical presence in the back. Vilar will be look to provide expereince in goal with his 13 years in the Liga MX. These additions will add depth and versatility to an already strong team that looks to reclaim the Apertura Championship this season.

US national team players Joe Carona and Greg Garza went out on season long loans to Veracruz and Atlas FC respectively. Role players Cirilo Saucedo, Richard Ruiz, Jesus Chavez, and Javier Guemez were all officially transfered to other teams around Mexico last Wednesday.

The Xolos started their preseason training this past Sunday in Mazatlan where they have been doing much of their training on the beach. The team is doing double and triple sessions in these first weeks of preseason in an attempt to whip all the players back in shape for next season and incorporate all of the new players and have them settled before the 2015/2016 season starts on July 24th.
