UPDATE: A few weeks ago, Cal South National Cup began and teams started their quest for a trip to the US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho. Many of the top-seeded teams had a great showing, but were eventually defeated by teams with lower seeds.

Congratulations!

Congrats to all of the teams who made it into the knock-out rounds — making it that far is a wonderful accomplishment, especially in highly competitive Southern California.

Congrats to Boca Jrs LA! Two teams in the semi-finals is a huge accomplishment.

Previous news…

Throughout April, teams who hadn’t earned a bye competed in the first round of the Cal South National Cup Olders championships. Teams who advanced will now begin a new group competition, where they will be joined by teams that had earned a first-round bye. They are all trying to earn a spot in the knock-out rounds and eventually the championship games. Champions of Cal South National Cup will head to Boise, Idaho later this summer for Far West Regionals.

Silverlakes Shines

Gone are the days of driving to Apple Valley and Lancaster. To the relief of many soccer moms and dads, all of the Round 2 games will be played at the Silverlakes complex in Norco. There are still some dirt parking lots and “porta-pottees.” However, the Silverlakes complex has become one of the premier venues for youth soccer in SoCal. Paved parking lots. Real bathrooms. Indoor plumbing. The impressive and air-conditioned “Field House” restaurant. All have elevated the youth soccer experience for families. Moms and dads who used to merely tolerate conditions at their kids’ fields now actually look forward to enjoying a day at a soccer venue.

“The Silverlakes team really has it down. The crew is so helpful and knowledgeable about the field layout. I love that they can tell you the best place to park for your specific field.”

Lotta Sabouri, Soccer Mom extraordinaire

Will the top seeds make it out of their groups?

Despite the stellar venue, the soccer will remain the star of the show. Perennial power houses from well-known clubs are scattered among the top-ranked teams. Smaller, yet highly competitive, clubs will also bring their skill sets to Norco, where upsets and surprise results are almost guaranteed. Here is a list of the #1&2 seeds in each age group:
