The California native from Lancaster who now plays for Club Leon in Mexico, is performing really well in the Liga MX. If he keeps up the good work, he should definitely see him more often in the lineup.

The 25 year-old winger scored his second goal on Tuesday against Correcaminos UAT. The goal happened in the 25th minute of the match that ended 3-1 for Leon. He received a pass on the left side of the box and placed his strike to the right side of the goal. It was his second goal this month after scoring against Atletico San Luis on August 5th.

Ibarra’s great performance should keep him in the line up and add more playing time this season. So far, he has had 21 minutes of playing time in 3 apperances, which is not as much time as he’d wanr, but he can definitely earn more time by showing that he is taking advantage of the opportunities he has been given.

This good phase for Ibarra could also attract attention from Jurgen Klinsmann, U.S. Men’s National Team head coach, who was the one to introduce Ibarra to the national team. Klinsmann has to complete his roster for the next couple of friendly matches the U.S. has in September against Peru and Brazil, so this could be a chance for Ibarra. The California native has been a regular in recent months under Klinsmann’s command, but did not make  the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup roster.

Ibarra played both at Taft College during his freshman and sophomore year and then at UC Irvine during his junior and senior years. During college he also played for USL PDL club Lancaster Rattlers and later Orange County Blue Star. In 2012 was selected by MLS Portland Timbers but did not sign with the club, instead he signed with NASL Minnesota United FC. He is currently playing with Club Leon and has been since June of 2015. He was called up to the U.S. National Team in 2014 for the first time, as the first American second division player to get called up since 2005. Ibarra’s fifth and most recent call up with the national team was on June 10th, 2015 against Germany.
