The Albion Pros have added Matt Clare and Tre Hayes to their roster ahead of their league opener on April 3rd. In Clare, Albion gets a proven goal scorer who brings a long list of professional experience and an NASL championship among other things. Hayes brings athleticism and size to a growing list of goal threats Albion now have at their disposal. He showcased his potential outmuscling the last defender for the team’s second goal most recently against LA Galaxy II.

Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski was pleased to add players of this caliber in time for their push to be league champions. “The signing of Matt Clare is definitely a statement by Albion PROS,” said Korytoski.

“From day one his commitment, energy and professionalism have been nothing short of superb and his ambitions and values align with what we are trying to create here in the San Diego soccer community. To commit such a proven player to our club with experience in some of the top leagues in our country is remarkable for our brand. In addition, to bring one in while in the prime of his career only magnifies our commitment to make Albion Pros a model franchise in our country.”

Clare is best known in San Diego for his outstanding play with the San Diego Sockers of the MASL. This past season saw Clare find the net 23 times while setting up 5 in only 19 games. With San Diego now being home, Clare couldn’t help but take notice of what Albion was doing. [quote_box_center]“The reason I joined Albion was because of the vision and goals set by the owners, staff, and front office personnel. They want to make soccer in San Diego fun, new and eventful, but built around winning and being successful on and off of the field.”[/quote_box_center]

Clare has a long list of accomplishments including a go ahead goal against the Bolton Wanderers then of the English Premier League. However, success has not dampened his appetite as a professional. “My ambitions as a professional are to continue to grow as a player everyday. This means going to practice and still having the mindset of being a “student of the game” and willingness to want to learn and to continue to grow and develop as a player and teammate.”

Albion Pros pride themselves on the professional and ambitious culture they have created, and they could not have found better fits in Clare and Hayes. Hayes echoed Clare’s sentiments when he said, “I wanted to play for the Albion Pros because of the professional environment. You really cannot get this anywhere else in the NPSL. Albion has a strong youth club and fan base in San Diego. It was the right fit for me moving forward as a professional soccer player.”

Commenting on Hayes, Coach Korytoski added, [quote_box_center]“The addition of Tre to our club is terrific. He brings a number of elements including size, strength and experience. He has a strong desire to get in front of the goal and produce. I believe he has the potential to make a significant impact for the PROS in the future.”[/quote_box_center]

With the first league game scheduled for April 3rd Away to Deportivo Coras, it is exciting times for the Albion Pros.
