AYSO SOCCER HIGHLIGHT: Zebras GU7 San Marcos Region 127
The Zebras are a newly formed team in San Marcos, California in the AYSO Region 127 for girls under 7. These girls are just beginning to play soccer and discover the passion of the world loved game.
One of the players, Joanna Punzalan, is very excited because she is learning something that she has never done before. It is a whole new world - and now everyone in the family is getting involved.
Joanna's mother, Anna Punzalan says "We first started watching during the World Cup, and my husband travels a lot to Brazil for work and attends soccer matches abroad. Now that our daughter is playing soccer, we are thrilled to watch her learn and have so much fun."
"We watched Mexico beat France in the World Cup when Hernandez and Blanco scored and the game ended 2-0 . The family all bought Mexican team jerseys to wear to show our support!"
Now, the whole family watches soccer on TV and likes attending our AYSO games on the weekend," says Anna Punzalan, the proud soccer mom, who has volunteered to be the Team Parent. "Go Ate!" says two year old Mariana, Joanna sister, as she watches her sister run by on the soccer field. After the AYSO season, the family may look at arena soccer as another option.
The Zebra team has 8 players and is coached by Andy Martin. The assistant coach is Stephanie Frank. All the parents of the players are excited and enthusiastic. The young team is learning how to pass the ball and to score on goal. And the team is winning! The Zebra's have won their first two games of the season and are off to a great start.
Congratulations to all the GU7 AYSO players for discovering the joys of soccer and good luck! |
