Club Soccer News: West Coast FC BU11 are Champions.
West Coast FC BU11 has had a great summer tournament season, winning many tournaments. Early in the season they had already scored 64 goals and only allowed 14. Relying on tough defense and possession-oriented offense, West Coast has had a nice run with some great contributions from every member of the entire team.
In the Cerritos Memorial Challenge, they faced a field of 20 teams from Southern and Northern California and Las Vegas. Led by Wolfgang Prentice at forward, West Coast was able to pounce on Aztecs Premier (San Diego) early and led 3-0 at halftime in the semi-final. Sterling Butler anchored the defense throughout the tournament and kept Aztecs potent offense at bay resulting in a 3-1 victory. The final against Barcelona (Los Angeles) was a close battle that ended with a 3-2 victory in penalty kicks. Cameron Steijn, Sterling Butler and Tate Keir made their kicks from the spot which gave them the championship.
In the Pegasus Cup, after suffering their first defeat to Aztecs Premier in group play, they prevailed with a come-from-behind victory with a late goal from Jimmy Burns to win 2-1 in the final.
The Slammers Tournament turned into a goal-fest for West Coast FC with a combined 31 goals scored in 4 games and only 2 allowed. The goals were equally distributed amongst the team with many highlight reel goals and assists from Cameron Kaemerle, Victor Onofre, Aidan Marmion, Leo Cruz, Caden Rule, Gianni Munoz, Ethan Aurangzeb & Zico Bailey. Alain Hernandez was excellent as goalkeeper as he was able to keep 3 shutouts throughout the tournament.
The boys from WCFC have worked hard throughout the summer and hope to keep the streak alive as they continie to compete.
