Spain beats Germany 1-0 to Advance to Final in the World Cup
This was Spain's first foray into the semifinals of the World Cup. Carles Puyol's goal in the 73rd minute sent fans wild. Spain now plays Netherlands on Sunday in the Final.
Germany's desires to secure first place on the World Cup stage were dashed by Carles Puyol's amazing header that simply shot the ball into the back of the net and stunned viewers and players alike.
Germany’s team was missing their suspended player Thomas Muller. Germany was unable to command the same control of the ball and power on the field that allowed them to Argentina with ease. Germany has played many semi-finals on the World Cup stage, but this was Spain’s first.
