Youth Soccer Spotlight:  Canyon Hills Soccer Association Soccer Team Shockwave

Shockwave BU8 Team is in the League-CHSA.  Coached by David Yost, with Assistant Coaches John Bell, Rob Choi, and Kevin Quinn, the team of young boys play soccer in a very competitive league.

According to Coach Yost, “I have a boys U8 team full of soccer loving 7 year olds. My team is well known for defense and breakaways on offense in our league.”

The team roster includes: Allen Anca, Ethan Bell, Ej Choi, Adam Eilefson, Max Evelo, Jake Faryniarz, Keyon Ghassemlou, Ryan McCarron, Connor Quinn, Charbel Raheb and Daniel Yost.

“My forward/halfback is Daniel Yost and he made several breakaways for goals this year with his speed and ball control. Once Dan took off with the ball and nobody could catch him,” says Coach Yost who started playing soccer at age 5 in the same league his son plays in now. 

“I grew up in Anaheim and played in Canyon Hills Soccer, Jusa and Lancers. I played on All-Star Teams and played all the way through High School then,  I unfortunately left the sport. I played forward and scored goals.  It was fun then and it is great now to coach my son’s team and try to pass on things I know to the team.”

Yost attributes his dedication to coaching to his father.  "If it was not for my Dad coaching all of my teams, I probably would not be doing this. He was an awesome coach! Win or lose, my father always had fun and taught me alot about soccer I wanted to do what he did for me, so I am coaching my son's team -- and the team has the same name, Shockwave, as my boyhood team that my Dad coached."
