San Diego Soccer News:  Sharks BU11 Win Copa Del Mar Tournament

Congratulations to Coach Goran Nastic's Del Mar Sharks BU11 Gold team for winning 1st place in the Copa Del Mar Tournament in San Diego. Alot of great teamwork and awesome soccer produced wins in all five games.  

The Sharks started off with a 2-0 win against RSF Attack. Ilan and Johnny each got a goal.  Results of the second game against the Hurricanes were 8-0.  Ilan scored one goal, Grayson made a stunning header goal, Trevor got 2 goals, Nick M. got one goal, Marvin got one goal, Danny got one goal, and Johnny got one goal.  The Sharks then beat Arsenal 3-0 with Ilan, Marvin and Johnny each scoring.       

The semi-finals game was against Manchester, who the Sharks have played against many times.  The win for the Sharks in this match was 1-0, with Ilan putting the ball in the back of the net after following in a rocket shot from Geffen that the goal keeper couldn't keep his hands on.  

The championship match was against Revolution FC, a team that traveled all the way from Vancouver, Canada.  The Sharks dominated the game, and came out with a 3-0 win.  Ilan made an amazing goal as he slid onto the ground in a successful attempt to beat the defender and get the shot off.  Marvin made a beautiful header goal off of a free kick taken by Ilan.  The third goal started out with Trevor, showing great ball control and making a perfect pass to Marvin, who crossed it into the middle to find Danny's head, who put it in the back of the net. 

Shark players, Rehan, Connor, Nick M., Nick B., Trevor, Geffen and Matthew did an amazing job shutting down many opponents, and helped make all five games so much fun to watch.  A big shout out goes to Cameron, the team's goal keeper, who helped lead the Sharks to a complete shut out during the entire tournament, as no goals were scored against them.  

This is the Shark's first, 1st place tournament win this summer.  The team was also finalists in Pateadores Cup in San Juan Capistrano.  This is the fifth year playing together for some of the boys, and the second year coaching them for Goran.
