Only a few weeks ago the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) was in Kansas City holding their annual draft at the NSCAA.  Women’s professional seemed to be moving forward. Then yesterday there was this bombshell announcement that WPS would suspend the 2012 season.  Philadelphia Independence Owner, David Halstead sets the record straight.

Although Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) just completed the WPS Draft, the league's Board of Governors voted today to suspend the 2102 season with hopes of resuming in 2013, the WPS announced.  

CEO Jennifer O'Sullivan  and Fitz Johnson from the Atlanta Beat answer the tough questions as to why this happened, and if anyone imagined that when the WPS terminated the MagicJack team, this could have been a result?

Although the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) just completed the WPS Draft at the NSCAA annual convention a day after the MLS Super Draft, and had plans to make 2012 the most competitive and successful season to date, the league's Board of Governors voted Monday to suspend the season with hopes of resuming in 2013, the WPS announced.  

Sunil Gulati said, "Along with WPS and their owners, we are disappointed that there will not be a women’s professional league in 2012."
