U.S. Soccer News: U.S. Under-18 WNT in Chula Vista for Third Camp of 2012 Will Face San Diego SeaLions in Scrimmage

The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team arrived at the Arco Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., on October 21 for the third and final training camp of the year for this age group.

U.S. Soccer Women’s Technical Director April Heinrichs called up 24 players for the training camp, all born in 1996, as this age group represents the first event for the next cycle of the U-18s. The previous two U-18 training camps this year consisted mostly of players born in 1994. The cut-off for the next FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup is players born on or after January 1, 1994, so this current group of U-18s is mostly focused on the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The U.S. U-18s will face the 2012 Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Pacific-South Division Champion San Diego SeaLions on Saturday, October 27, at 4:00 p.m. PT. In an effort to help the U-18's prepare for world-class competition, the SeaLions, who boast several top regional college players, will travel to the Olympic Training Center for the scrimmage with the team. Fans are welcome to attend, and are asked to park in visitor parking next to the visitor lounge.
