Women's Soccer News: SeaLions Will Honor Former Spirit Players at June 18 Match.

 

Players Scheduled to appear at the San Diego SeaLions include, Shannon MacMillan, Allie Sullivan (Kemp), Ouying Zhang, Kim Pickup and Jen Lalor-Nielsen 

Your San Diego SeaLions have just come off of 2 back-to-back wins last weekend, are currently tied for first place in the Pac-South division of the WPSL. They return home again on Saturday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. to take on LA Premier. It's also Del Mar Sharks Night, and the SeaLions invite all Sharks players and families out to Manchester Stadium in support of the SeaLions, and also Sharks DOC Shannon MacMillan. 

MacMillan will be making an appearance at the game along with several other former San Diego Spirit players. The SeaLions will honor these incredible athletes prior to the start of the match. 

Want to be part of the on-field action of an upcoming game? 

The SeaLions offers youth soccer players the opportunity to get involved in the game day experiences. These spots may be available for future home games, so if you or your team are interested, please reserve quickly before they're released to the general public. These opportunities include:

Ball Kids - Have your team serve as the official ball kids of a match

Pups on the Pitch - Play at halftime, or before the start of the match on the SeaLion home field

Flipper Five - High-five the SeaLions as they are announced during starting lineups 

Participation in these activities must be arranged in advance.

Editor's Note: The San Diego Spirit was a professional soccer team that played in the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA). The team played at Torero Stadium at University of San Diego (USD). The team began play in 2001 and suspended in 2003.

The founding members of the Spirit were Julie Foudy, Shannon MacMillan and Joy Fawcett. The team reached the playoffs in the 2003 season, losing to the Atlanta Beat in the semifinals. Other notable members of the Spirit included Scotland's Julie Fleeting, Brazil's Daniela and Canada's Christine Latham, as well as US WNT players Jenni Branam, Aly Wagner and Shannon Boxx.
