Women's Soccer News: SEALIONS Kick off 2011 WPSL Season with Win Against AJAX

The San Diego SeaLions defeated the Claremont Stars in the home opener on Sunday June 5 at Cathedral High School as well.
The San Diego SeaLions WPSL (Women's Premier Soccer League) kicked off the 2011 season yesterday with a shutout against AJAX on Saturday, June 4. SeaLions return to San Diego to play at Cathedral Catholic High School for their home opener today, June 5th at 2:00 pm.

The San Diego SeaLions opened the 2011 Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) regular season with an away game against Ajax America on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Nansen Field in Rancho Palos Verdes. The match was a strong victory for the SeaLions with Kaycee Gunion earning her first shutout of the season.
Amie Becker, General Manager of the SeaLions was excited by the teams win and reported that goals were scored by Nikki Petracca, Ashlin Yahr and Maddie Tantillo.
Today, the SeaLions host their home opener at Cathedral Catholic High and take on the Claremont Stars. The game begins at 2:00 p.m. and the first 200 fans receive a free San Diego SeaLions sling bag.
COST: Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for military, seniors, and children. Fans wearing a U.S. National Team jersey will get in free in honor of this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. The SeaLions will also provide free admission to any fan who brings a drum to beat during the game.
HOME FIELD: All home games are played at Cathedral Catholic High School, located at 5555 Del Mar Heights Road in Del Mar, CA.
The San Diego SeaLions have started this season strong coming off of an exciting 1-0 pre-season victory over the Bay Area Breeze, one of few professional teams that joined the WPSL this season.
