Pro Soccer News: SD Flash to play CV Manchester

SD Flash Soccer Club gives back to the San Diego community and plays local youth soccer club.

The SD Flash, the new professional team the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) in San Diego has agreed to play Carmel Valley Manchester's U18/19 team on Sunday, March 27 at noon at Westview High School on Camino Del Sur.

Head Coach Warren Barton, a well known face to many, is the well-known soccer aficionado and TV soccer analyst for Fox Soccer Channel, enjoys giving back to the game and our local soccer community.  

Barton is a former pro player in the English Premier League with Wimbledon and Newcastle United remembers what it was like before he became a pro and is eager to help today's youth soccer players.

Head Coach Warren Barton says, "It is my pleasure to play CV Manchester Soccer Club's U18/19 team this weekend.  We are taking this game seriously and will have some of our all star players on the field."

"This is a great chance to give back to the community and hopefully give the CV Manchester players something to aspire to," says Barton.

CV Manchester’s coach Darren Parker set up the scrimmage with the local professional soccer team to provide his soccer players with the opportunity to play at a higher level than at many youth soccer tournaments. 

Parker’s boys have challenged Barton’s men before and while the SD Flash emerged victorious, CV Manchester held their own and performed very well.

Parker says, "We are really looking forward to playing SD Flash and appreciate Warren's committment to the success of soccer in San Diego.  I respect Barton as a former player and as a coach in the youth and professional levels, and of course, it is always a pleasure to watch him commentate on Fox Soccer. For anyone who knows me, I am a dedicated English Premier League's Liverpool fan."

Barton says, “The soccer game will be at noon on Sunday, March 27 at Westview High School on Camino Del Sur.  It is very easy to get to, Westview is right off of the 56 freeway.  We want everyone to come out to cheer for all the players.  The more the merrier!  Darren Parker is a great coach and it should be an exciting game.”

Tickets are $3 online and $5 at the gate .  These are Pre-Season prices.

The National Premier Soccer League is a United States soccer league recognized by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and FIFA. The league is officially affiliated with the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and teams can qualify for the U.S. Open Cup. As of 2011 the NPSL consists of 37 teams nationwide. 

The SD Flash Soccer Club is a Professional Men's Outdoor Soccer Club based in San Diego, California. The team is formed from talented, local players and will provide quality entertainment at games in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
