Soccer News: San Diego Boca FC Win Big on Road with 5-1 Thumping of FC Hasental

San Diego Boca FC (4-3-5) improved their record with a solid division road win in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon against FC Hasental. Boca started the match with fire after coming off the San Diego Derby loss against the San Diego Flash last week, wanting to get back into winning ways.

Gabriel Buckson and Michael Perez started the scoring for Boca, with both players getting Boca on the scoreboard in the first seven minutes of the match with good individual efforts coming off nice set passes. By the time the half ended Boca would take a commanding 4-0 lead into halftime, with an additional goal from Buckson. A second half goal from Geo Sandez, who hit the ball from 35 yards out into the upper left hand corner of the net, made it 5-0 before Hasental finally cracked the scoreboard.

After the game, San Diego Boca FC Head Coach Karim Ben Mazouk commented, "We played a very good team today and yet we were able to really dominate and a lot of that comes from putting the proper pressure in a defensive manner, which ultimately creates offensive opportunities for us.”

On the team’s rocky season, Ben Mazouk explained, “We have had quite a few player personal changes throughout the year, as this is the first year with the club for many players, so we are starting to gel finally. I am pleased with the effort of the team and we will take this effort going into our next league match against Phoenix to continue to improve our position in the standings."

Coach Karim continued, "The players are starting to finally see the difference that team defense makes and we have been working on this for weeks, but today it really showed today. The guys also really played with some passion, wanting the win from minute one, so it’s good to see things moving the way they are.”

San Diego Boca FC also saw 18 year old goalkeeper Sebastian Ortiz start in goal after missing last week’s derby match with a hamstring pull. Ortiz held Hasental to a shutout in the first half before being substituted out for goalkeeper Myles Frederick, who came into the match in the 72nd minute. Both keepers played solid in goal with Frederick making two solid saves to protect Boca's lead.

San Diego Boca FC's next match is at home at Balboa Stadium on June 30th at 7:00 PM against the Phoenix Monsoon.
