Pro Soccer News:  San Diego Boca FC Take on SD Flash in the Local San Diego Soccer Derby.

UPDATE: 6.11.11 @ 10 PM San Diego Boca Defeat SD Flash 3-2. San Diego Boca scores the first goal of the match within minutes.  At half time, the score was 2-0 Boca leading. Last minutes of match Flash scored to even the game and within seconds, Boca scored their third and final goal of the night to win the San Diego Soccer Derby.  Complete story and game pictures on Sunday.


The Two NPSL rival soccer teams face off: Downtown Boca FC host North Country SD Flash in the San Diego Soccer Derby this Saturday at 7 pm at Balboa Stadium.

 

San Diego fans have been waiting for the day when they could claim soccer has finally surged forward to new heights in America’s Soccer City; San Diego - America's finest city. The popularity of the 2010 World Cup in San Diego was second to none nationwide in both television ratings and general excitement. This Saturday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m., that excitement will surge again at Balboa Stadium when NPSL veteran San Diego Boca FC take on newcomer and rival SD Flash.

Earlier this season in April, the teams met in an away game at SD Flash’s field and the match a tense, dead-even battle with the score 1-1 until overtime.  Just moments before the final whistle, SD Flash scored and earned a 2-1 victory to only further stoke the flames of rivalry between these two teams.  Boca is coming into the match with a two-game unbeaten streak with a tie this past weekend against last years 2010 NPSL Champion Sacramento with a 2-2 draw on the road.   SD Flash comes to the match with an unbeaten field record and an official rank of 7-2-0.


The San Diego Derby is a special event for another reason, however, as Boca FC will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. The organization has been supporting the youths of San Diego for half a century, and will be encouraging fans to donate and volunteer to their incredible and extremely important cause.

The event will also host multiple gourmet food trucks, including the Mangia Mangia Mobile, Panda Express, India On Wheels and Super Q BBQ. The battle between Boca and Flash is shaping up to be the Premier San Diego Soccer Match of 2011.
