Youth Soccer News: Dave Currie's Surf BU11 Win Vegas Cup
Las Vegas Sports Academy (LVSA) held the annual 2013 Vegas Cup Soccer Tournament last weekend from January 18th through Martin Luther King's Birthday Celebration.
The 2013 Vegas Cup youth soccer tournament brought 330 teams from 17 different soccer clubs from across the country and even Canada and New Zealand.
The youth players enjoyed competing against U8 to U18 players from Arizona, Alaska, Cal North, Cal South, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas North, Texas South, Utah, Washington, Canada, and New Zealand!
Coached by Surf's Dave Currie, the Surf BU11 team traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Vegas Cup 2013 and put it all out on the field and won, bringing home the celebrated victory and trophy after hard work and playing great soccer.
San Diego Surf's new Director of Coaching Boys, Wayne Harrison said, "The U11 boys had an excellent weekend in Las Vegas. The coach, Dave Currie, did a fantastic job having them play dynamic and attractive soccer with smooth development from the back, which resulted in them winning the tournament handsomely."
"Well done to Dave and his boys and thanks to all the parents traveling all that way to support the team. A real team effort from everyone concerned -- coach, players and parents," said Harrison.
While winning is always the desired outcome of a soccer match, playing great soccer is more important to these youth players who live, breath and eat soccer; and winning comes from this, more often than not.
