Southern California soccer fans will be able to see great international soccer this summer when the world famous Real Madrid soccer team comes to San Diego on July 20 to play Chivas de Guadalajara at QUALCOMM Stadium.

A nine-time European champion and 31-time champion of Spain’s La Liga, Real Madrid recently won the Copa del Rey and currently sit in second place in La Liga while also advancing to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. Now in his first season as the club’s head coach, Jose Mourinho has a wealth of talent at his disposal including Portuguese internationals Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe, German internationals Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira, as well as Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Raul Albiol and Alvaro Arbeloa, all of whom were members of Spain’s winning team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Real Madrid is one of the most storied and recognized clubs in the world. Real Madrid is coming to San Diego as part of their preseason U.S. professional soccer tour, and will play this exhibition match against the Mexican club Chivas. Real Madrid will challenge LA Galaxy at the L.A. Coliseum on July 16.

The International exhibition games are part of the World Football Challenge and LA Galaxy, New England Revolution, Chicago Fire, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Vancouver Whitecaps are also participating.
