San Diego Club Soccer News: CV Pumas Premier GU15 Champions

The making of a championship soccer team takes time, talent and dedication. According to Hugo Molina, President of the Chula Vista Pumas Premier FC the GU15 team has all of this and more. 

The CV Pumas Premier GU15 are no stranger to success. Since the team was formed more than 4 years ago, they quickly made their way up the ranks in youth soccer and into the elite position, winning the AA-A circuit in 2006 and earning the team a position in San Diego's Presidio League AAA for 2007.

Such a quick ascent would prove that experience was needed to compete at this high a level.  The Pumas team learned quickly what it would take to rise in this new, more competitive level of club soccer.  The Pumas GU15 Gold team, led by coach Dan Schreck,  earned Presidio League runner up in 2008-2009.

Flash forward:  This year, the team is the undefeated Presidio League AA-A GU15 Champions for 2010-2011 and are back in the elite ranks. 

The team went 13-0 with 62 goals for and only 1 scored against this amazing team.

The defense, anchored by the best goalie in the league, Hannah Teague and by sweeper Sashia Alvarez, allowed no goals in the month of November. The defense is complemented by; Milinda Salas, Alexis Vargas, Caitlyn Shockey, Shandell Rios. Midfield is Lexie Gates, Briana Hamawandi, Alyssa Hernandez, Lauren Gonzales, Shayne Mojica, Brenda Garcia. 

The team’s offense is led by star Forward Vanessa Davalos, Tiahna Gillon and  Mikelle Gracia. The team was highly benefited from six highly talented new comers; Caitlyn Shockey, Briana Hamawnadi, Lexie Gates, Brenda Garcia, Shandell Rios and Mickelle Gracia.

"These girls fit into our system and the chemistry is fantastic" said coach Schreck. 

To top off a great season, the girls where Semi-Finalist at the Las Vegas Turkey Shoot. According to Hugo Molina, President, Chula Vista Pumas Premier FC, “Challenges are sure to await the girls in the 2011-2012 season, except this time around, they will take them head on with all the experience needed to succeed.”
