San Diego Club Soccer News: Pumas Soccer Club Blue BU15
Coach Raul Reyes, Coach for the PUMAS USA SOCCER CLUB Blue BU15AA-B reports to SN:
The CV Pumas Premiere FC team went to their last game to face a very good team: Olympicos. We were both tied in Presidio league with 34 points each. The game was for the league Championship. My team, the Pumas, showed up to the field with one thing in our mind: to win.
Unlike so many of our California days, when it is warm and sunny and the soccer ball goes where it is kicked, today was different. The day was rainy and windy. I had to play with a very different formation: play strong at back, quick at middle and fast at front.
The game was very physical and exciting. During the first half, the team showed everything they had learned through out the season and at half time, it was 0 to 0...
During the first half, they were given some encouraging words from my close friend Coach Oscar. It seemed as if the Pumas came to life. As the game continued, it became more and more exiting. We had many drives, but the ball would not go in, finally a break; a corner kick.
Anthony Fernando, #33, took the corner kick, and the ball curved into the goal.
It was a one of a kind goal.
From that point, on we became more defensive and secured the game. After 15 minutes of defending, the referee blows the whistle. We won the match 1 to 0.
The Pumas came out during the second half and showed their parents and friends that even though it was raining and windy, they were not going to be disappointed. All the hard work during the season had paid off. The team accomplished what they came to do. I am very proud of my 18 PUMAS.
The key to success: is have faith in God, teach and learn with the players, and the most important thing; be part of the team. As a coach, it is important to have fun and enjoy their success, like they enjoy your teaching. It has been a pleasure being a part of this club.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
