Youth Soccer News: Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club Expands the Boy’s Elite Program with a New Director

Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club has hired Paul Holohan as Director of their Carlsbad Elite Boys Soccer Program.  The boy’s Elite program focuses on college bound elite soccer players.

Paul Holohan has a proven track record of success in the coaching ranks of both club and collegiate soccer and he brings a wealth of experience to the helm of the Elite boys’ program.  In addition to his position as Director of the Carlsbad Elite Boy’s program, Paul currently serves as an assistant with San Diego State University.  He formerly served as a U.S. Development Academy Coach with the Nomads Soccer Club here in San Diego. 

"Paul Holohan is a fantastic addition to the Elite Boys program; he has achieved a lot both as a player, and over the last 12 years, as a coach with the Nomads," says Michael Duggan, Carlsbad Lightning’s Director of Coaching.   “Holohan has great expertise in working with college bound players both technically and physiologically.  Also, his experience working at UCSD and now at San Diego State provides our players an insight into what it really takes to play at the collegiate level. He is a perfect fit as our director of our elite program, which is all about placement of our players in college,” says Duggan.

That's why we are increasingly attracting top caliber players – soccer players who are committed to training, development and advancing to the college ranks," Holihan told SN today.

Holohan continues, “Southern California leads the nation in youth development.  That's why being part of the leadership team at Carlsbad Elite is so important to me.”

“It's an exciting time to be here, there's a commitment at Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club to the young men in our program that's hard to find and I'm proud to be part of it...and at the end of the day it’s nice to go to work with a smile on your face and more importantly go home with one,” says Holohan.
