Soccer News: Time Warner Cable Deportes Debuts Soccer Legends Series

Time Warner Cable’s new Deportes channel will provide Spanish language coverage of sports with a focus on interacting with viewers. While much of the buzz has been the station’s coverage of the LA Lakers, soccer will be an integral part of the programming. Series like Tu Show Del Fútbol, Historias Detrás Del Balón and Encuentro Deportivo will provide viewers with a wide range of coverage of the world’s most popular sport.

Historias Detrás Del Balón is an original storytelling-style series that will give soccer fans an unprecedented look into the lives of some of Latin America’s most beloved professional soccer stars past and present. The legendary and storied career of Hugo Sánchez will be the programs debut feature.  The two-part piece chronicles Sánchez’ personal journey from his humble start, to his rise as the most decorated Mexican soccer player to have ever played the game.

Chosen for their deeply moving journeys through the sport, other soccer players profiled for the series include La Liga’s Andres Guardado, Argentinian Jorge Damián Zamogilny, and the now retired great, Ramón Morales. The show will air weekly with its first season bringing sports fans more than thirty sit-down interviews conducted by the network’s Elmur Souza and shot on-location throughout Mexico.

Time Warner Cable Deportes launches on Monday, October 1. Historias Detrás Del Balón  debuts on Tuesday, October 2, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Tu Show Del Fútbol will air nightly at 6:00 p.m., except Sunday when it will be broadcast at 10:00 p.m. Encuentro Deportivo airs nightly at 10:00 p.m.
