The Manchester boys breezed through bracket and semi-final play with high-scoring, entertaining soccer and without allowing a single goal against them. The Carlsbad Lightning BU8s also emerged from the bracket undefeated.
In the final, after a slow start, Manchester jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Lightning got back into the game by scoring on a corner kick to make it 2-1. However, the Manchester boys showed their fight, regained control of the game, and pulled away to a 4-1 victory.
This tournament victory was a great team effort. In addition to excellent defending, 7 of the 10 Manchester boys scored goals during the tournament.
Coach Steve Hill said, "The boys played well in the tournament. We showed up with a strong defense, allowing only one goal against, and a very effective front line and midfield throughout the tournament".
"It's been a fun tournament summer. Our team is working hard, and the boys continue to develop," said Coach Hill.
Earlier this summer, Manchester's BU8 Academy won the Nott's Forest Cup and the Manchester Cup.
