Coach Darren Parker and his CV Manchester BU19 Premier team
Club Soccer News: CV Manchester BU19 Premier team wins the 2010 BU19 Pats Cup trophy.

Last month, on July 26 in Orange County, Coach Darren Parker's CV Manchester BU19 Premier team beat the Pateadores White team 1-0 to win the 2010 BU19 Pats Cup trophy.

Parker's team made the move from the DMCV Sharks club to the CV Manchester organization over the summer.  SN talked with Parker about his move to CV Manchester and the coach said that Billy Garton and Jeff Illingsworth were thrilled to welcome him and his team to CV Manchester and were very supportive of the players.  Parker, a dedicated and long time coach, explained that he was looking for the best solution for his players and Garton and Illingsworth were pleased to step up and help.

The new CV Manchester U18 team is doing well at their new club and has been winning several tournaments. This was their third run at the Pats Cup title, but their first time as a CV Manchester team. In their two previous runs at the title, they were knocked out by the Pateadores White team but this year the team was triumphant.

Earlier this summer, in their last tournament as a Sharks team, they were a finalist in the Cerritos Memorial Cup tournament outside of Los Angeles. In their first tournament as a CV Manchester team in June, they were a finalist in the Manchester Cup tournament in San Diego.  The team also played in the West Coast Futbol Classic.  Recently, the team played a scrimmage against the San Diego Sockers at Ashley Falls. The Manchester boys were amazing and held the Sockers at bay with the first half ending 0-0.  Even famed soccer player Paul Wright of the Sockers could not get past the Manchester defenses.  In the second half, the Sockers scored twice with the score ending 2-0.  The San Diego Sockers are the professional soccer team with experienced players (and technically should win the game) and the CV Manchester BU19 team gave the pros a great run!

Coach Darren Parket of CV Manchester Soccer TEAMAccording to Coach Parker, "The San Diego Sockers soccer game was great for us.  It was terrific preparation for our academy game last week at the Arco Olympic training center vs SC Del Sol from Arizona, which we won 5-1."

They will be competing in the San Diego Presidio League's BU19 Premier Elite bracket beginning in September. Last season they competed in the BU19 Premier I bracket and finished with an 11 win, 1 loss and 2 tie record.

In addition to the team's outstanding league and tournament performance, four of Coach Parker's players from this team are going on to play college soccer.  Yiorgo Letsos (Carlsbad High School) and Todd Mata (Cathedral Catholic High School) will both be joining the Dominican University soccer program.  Anthony Fischer (Carlsbad High School) will be joining the Cal State San Marcos soccer program, and Gaby Lopez (Orange Glen High School) will be joining the College of Wooster soccer program.

Manchester’s Boys U19 have been selected to compete in the Western College Development Academy which provides enhanced college readiness opportunities, higher level competition, and college recruiting visibility.  A new premier youth soccer program focused on established, elite clubs delivering consistent, high-quality competition and college readiness services for its members launches today.  The BU19 team had their first game on Sunday and won.

Twenty-four youth soccer clubs across the western United States have formed the Western College Development Academy, which debuts this summer with teams representing clubs in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Colorado
