The buzz on the sidelines is that many young players made quite an impression on the field during the 2010 Cal South State Cup and National Cup tournaments in March. SoccerNation.com applaudes the following stars for their hard work.

  
Madelyn Desiano Desiano knocked in a header to tie the third pool play game,  which pushed the So Cal Blues GU10 Blues into the State Cup’s Round of 32.  
Michelle Riddle Riddle, otherwise known as Becks or Golden Leg, delivered excellent passes from midfield and contributed a host of assists and goals for the FC Blades GU12 in the State Cup. Riddles' execution from set plays is second to none.

Andrew Flores
Barragan, Zubek and Flores got the offense rolling in the right
direction for the Legends FC BU12 team during National Cup. The Legends tallied 21 goals on their way to the finals before falling to SBSC, 1-0, in the title match.
 
Nicole Zepeda Zepeda worked hard with her Chelsea SC G2000 teammates to accomplish the task of scoring a total of 21 points in the State Cup tournament to clinch the championship title.

Balin, Patterson and Koerber were a critical part of getting SD Surf GU12 Blue to the semifinals of the National Cup. Balin was brilliant in goal throughout the tournament run, making two key saves during Surf’s PK shootout with West Coast FC in the quarterfinals to move Surf into the semis.

Patterson was a constant force for Surf, winning balls and creating space for herself and the team. She was fantastic in the box in both defending and attacking set pieces. A true goal scoring threat throughout the tournament, Koerber scored the game-winning goal against the Legends in bracket pray to help Surf clinch first in their bracket. Her skills, vision and ability to create opportunities for others, is second to none.
 
Sarah Gibson Gibson scored the decisive goal in the finals to give the South Bay Gunners GU11 Black the State Cup title. She also fired in three direct kicks that day for a total of four goals in two games.  
Vandana Kadiamadia Kadiamadia led a tenacious defense that allowed an average of only 1.25 goals per game. Her hard work training with the Chelsea SC goalkeeper coach paid off as Kadiamadia made fantastic saves at goal, including various nerve-racking penalty kick shootout stops that allowed her Chelsea G2000 squad to reach the State Cup finals and win.  
Alexis Serna
Serna was a force in the net for her SD Surf GU9 team, capturing great saves and six shutouts to secure the State Cup title. Not only did she deliver great saves for Surf, she also displayed a positive attitude.

David Orellano
Jones, Munoz, Hermosillo and Orellano played important roles for the Legends FC BU13, who made a semifinals appearance before falling in a PK shootout. A center back, Jones has great potential as a defender to take his game to the next level. He is solid in the back, smart and consistent in his play.

Munoz, a left-footed center midfielder has a vision of the game that is far beyond his years. The playmaker helped his team score 20 goals in the five-game stretch. Hermosillo is a vital part of the Legends offense. The forward scored the tiebreaker in overtime to take the semifinal match to penalty kicks. Oreallano delivered a standout performance in the net for the Legends, allowing only two goals in five games.
 
 
Angelo Basso Basso is a dedicated player whose consistency to improve in all aspects of the game directly contributed to the TVSA Hawks BU13 Black team’s appearance in the State Cup’s Round of 16. Basso’s great attitude, willingness to learn, love for the game and creativity, all directly impacted the team’s success.  
Marc Callderon Callderon scored eight of the South Bay Gunners’ 16 total goals. The ODP player displays a selfless leadership role for his team, leading the way to the semifinals of the National Cup.
