SoccerNews: Lococo Sports Partners with The GIVE N GO Project
A very generous donation shares the joy of soccer with Southern California children who need to enjoy the passion of the game. Local soccer store Soccer Fanatic makes a big difference for the children at the Polinsky Center and Olive Crest through a donation of $100,000 of unused soccer equipment.
What do you do with over $100,000 worth of unused soccer equipment? If you are Lococo Sports, better known in California as Soccer Fanatic, you partner with South Florida-based The GIVE N GO Project to provide underprivileged children with some greatly needed support. Over time, the company had accumulated a stockpile of unsold and unused soccer cleats, jerseys, balls, and other equipment and was looking for a charitable organization to donate to. The GIVE N GO Project was the perfect partner.
The GIVE N GO Project was started by founder Amber Tollefson as a way to give back to the community and to provide equipment, training and health education to children in orphanages and foster homes in the United States and elsewhere. The group conducts clinics in which soccer becomes a vehicle for building the self-confidence of the children and providing a sense of hope. In addition to facilities around the United States, The GIVE N GO Project has worked with orphanages in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Haiti, and other Latin American countries.

In July The GIVE N GO Project was at 2011Surf Cup collecting used equipment to use in their programs. The Lococo Sports donation enabled Tollefson and her team to provide gear at clinics at two Southern California facilities: Polinsky Children’s Center in San Diego and Olive Crest in Santa Ana. Additional clinics are being planned throughout the country.
“We’ve been waiting for a few years now to find the perfect organization for this donation,” said John Lococo, President at Lococo Sports. “My main concern has always been ensuring the merchandise would find its way into the right hands when donated. With The GIVE N GO Project, I am hopeful each and every item will go towards bringing joy to the lives of young children here in the United States and around the world.”
The GIVE N GO Project’s Amber Tollefson said, “This marked the first time a company has donated such a significant amount of product towards our project. With Lococo Sports’ donations, we will be able to provide hundreds, if not thousands of kids, brand new cleats, balls, uniforms and soccer gear.”
