Youth Club Soccer Spotlight: Lightning Strikes Again
Thierry Bouchereau's Ladies are on a roll and for a second tournament in a row, they have come up victorious.

At the
San Diego Pegasus Cup, the GU14 Gold bracket had the
Coach Bouchereau’s team from
Carlsbad Lightning busy. On the first day of competition the team faced off with
San Diego Surf 95/96 with a final score of 2 - 0.
The second day of the tournament the team played a very physical match with CSC Crusaders. Scoring a late goal to win 1 – 0 and allowing the team to advance to the Semi Finals.
The girls’ Semi Final match was against Brian Quinn's FC San Diego team, with many just-missed opportunities, the girls finished finally with a 1-0 final.
The girls hit the pitch again on Monday, the third day of the competition, this time at high noon.
Playing again CSC, the game was very physical but the first half ended scoreless. The second half was busy for both teams. CSC struck first with a great save by Lightning's guest goalie to only be knocked down in front of the goal and CSC slotted it right back in. Coach Thierry's ladies would not be denied the championship so easily and as determined young ladies, rose quickly to the challenge. Brieanna Jones nailed a free kick into the right top ninety of the goal. With only minutes left, the Lightning kept the pressure on, with Dacia Webb taking the ball into the box only to be stopped by the goalie but Margo Cox cleaned it up, and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
These two teams will be facing off in
Presidio Premier this fall and we definitely expect some very good games to be played. For now, the girls are celebrating their win at Pegasus Cup.
