Donovan and Seiko Celebrate Game-Winning Goal

How do you celebrate scoring the winning goal in a soccer game? To celebrate Landon Donovan’s game-winning 72nd minute goal in the 2011 MLS Championship game against Houston Dynamo, Donovan and Seiko are teaming up for the Watch This video contest. This Facebook-based competition will provide fans with the chance to create their own game-winning goal celebration video. The top rated video will receive a Seiko Sportura Watch, a copy of EA’s FIFA12, and an LA Galaxy jersey autographed by Donovan.

To get in on the action, fans must create a video of a game-winning goal celebration that can be no longer than 72 seconds. The video can be a solo celebration or in a group, and may include props. The goal is to be creative and enthusiastic. The video can be of an actual game celebration or can be staged anywhere else. The contest is open to US residents 18 and older, however children may take part in the celebration as long as an adult is submitting the video. The video must be shot by the person uploading it to the contest.

The contest began on November 25, and submissions and voting will be open until December 24. Facebook users can vote once per day during the contest. The five videos with the most online votes will move on to the final round, where Donovan will choose the top submission. In addition to the top prizes, Second Place will receive the Seiko Sportura Watch and Third through Fifth Place will receive FIFA12. Budding cinematographers should upload their videos soon and spread it around through their social media connections.

Currently the leading video is “The world’s smallest airplane – Dylan!” submitted by Dylan’s father Eric Browning. The video shows the two-year-old Galaxy fan “scoring” and going into a combination of spin and airplane moves before falling to the ground, while shouting “goal!”

Second place is “GOALLLLL!!!!” with Keith Odell’s young son Aidan celebrating by pulling his jersey over his head and shouting “gooaaalll!!!” Third place at this point is “Shuffling Goal Celebration” by Mir Rezwan featuring two girls celebrating with a choreographed shuffle dance.
