Youth Soccer Spotlight: LAFC Academy BU9 Teams in Pegasus CupLAFC Academy has 2 teams in the
Pegasus Cup Tournament 2010 in San Diego. The younger team has boys born in 2002 and 2003 that are playing
BU9B and the slightly older team, consisting of 2001's, are playing in the
BU9 Silver bracket.
The boys U9B have won all 4 of their games including the semi-final against CSC, taking them to the finals tomorrow against the Aztecs. Scorers for the semi-final game were: Efrain Alvarez, Guillermo Lopez and Joel Trejo, with the result ending 4-1 LAFC Academy.
Over the course of the tournament, there were many players that scored and assisted to help in the advancement of the group. The players are really excited for tomorrow's final game. LAFC Coach Tony DeVocht is pleased with the boy's enthusiasm and passion for the game. The group trains hard, always giving 100% of their time and attention to the coaches.
The BU9 group, coached by Beto Dos Santos will be advancing to the semi-finals against FC Heat BU9. They are hoping to advance further to the final game later in the afternoon. So far the team has scored 26 goals with only 1 against. Again, this group won all the games in their bracket. Coach Dos Santos is very excited to be working with this age group. He is very proud of the hard work and devotion these players bring to the trainings and games.
LAFC Academy youth soccer coaches for the 2001-2002 are Beto Dos Santos, Tony DeVocht and Jimmy Nordberg. The teams train 3 days a week, and focus on the development in the players. Winning is definitely a plus for these boys, especially as they can now see all their hard work paying off. The teams will be participating in various tournaments through the season including the upcoming Surf Cup. The LAFC teams have already competed in Legends Classic and the Cerritos Memorial.
