SN: Why do you like playing left full back?
BORNSTEIN: The fact that you get to attack and defend.
SN: What is your earliest soccer memory?
BORNSTEIN: My earliest memory is kicking the ball around in the front yard with my brother and dad.
SN: How did you get involved in soccer?
BORNSTEIN: Dad wanted to coach when I was 3-years-old and so I started playing the sport.
SN: What do you love most about playing professional soccer?
BORNSTEIN: The opportunity to play in front of fans and friends in a large stadium.
SN: Who is your soccer hero and why?
BORNSTEIN: Pele. He was a great player and ambassador for the sport of soccer worldwide. |
SN: Who has been the most influential coach in your life and why?
BORNSTEIN: My dad. He taught me about having a great work ethic and everything else about the sport. |
SN: What are the top three most memorable soccer moments of your career?
BORNSTEIN:
1) Scoring my first goal with the US Men’s National team at the Home Depot Center.
2) The game tying goal against Costa Rica in an international game.
3) Winning the CIF championship with my high school team. |
SN: What tip would you give players who play in your position?
BORNSTEIN: Develop solid one-on-one defending skills, be consistent with your passing and know when to attack.

BORNSTEIN: Practice very hard and when given the opportunity make sure to make the most of it. |
