The
So Cal Infinity GU10 Blue team earned a crucial 10 points in the 2010 Spring CSL standings with a 3 – 0 victory over
North County Pacific Soccer Club Thunder on April 18.
The cool morning at Glenview Elementary did not slow the action on the pitch. NCP Thunder hosted Infinity Blue in their only match-up of the Spring season. Infinity's
Mia Richardson found her efforts rewarded at the 3rd minute of the first half. Thanks to a well placed pass from
Camille McDonnell, Richardson found herself with a one-on-one opportunity against the Thunder keeper. Richardson came out on top giving her and her teammates an early 1-0 lead.
The half continued with the attacking triangle becoming a fluid extension of the Infinity play. This created opportunities on goal for Infinity players
Madison Kline,
Isabel Dehakiz,
Michael Guptill,
Ava Gomez,
Camille McDonnell, and
Marysa Garner. However, beyond the initial goal given, both defenses proved impenetrable.
The second half opened up with both teams wanting to win. However, Infinity's
Claire Murray found Richardson with a well placed pass. Richardson took the ball and converted it into a goal at the 2nd minute of the second half extending the Infinity lead to 2-0.
The battle continued with a very physical play from Thunder and attacking quick triangles from Infinity. In the 29th minute of the second half, Infinity's McDonnell found Murray on the right side of the penalty area. Murray made quick work finding the keeper out of position and striking the ball just inside the far post giving her team a 3-0 lead which ended up as
the final result.
The victory put Infinity one point behind NCP Thunder in the standings for 7th place the Flight 1 of the Coast Soccer League's Spring Season.
