The U.S. Men’s National Team will debut a new Nike red jersey when they face Argentina on Saturday, March 26 at New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The motto “Indivisible” (which was selected from more than 6,000 submissions on Twitter - wow, how technology has changed things) has been chosen and will be featured on the sleeve of each player’s jersey when the kit debuts against Argentina on Saturday, March 26 at New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
The new national team uniform was inspired by supporters who voiced a desire for a red jersey to complete the red, white and blue kit trio to mirror the U.S flag. Hearing their rally calls, Nike took it one step further by partnering with U.S. Soccer and inviting fans to write a new motto for the team in a twitter-based campaign entitled “#RedAllOver.”
The winning motto “Indivisible” was chosen from more than 6,000 after fans submitted ideas by tweeting #RedAllOver, and will be heat pressed on the sleeve of the new jersey for the friendly against Argentina. As part of the “#RedAllOver” campaign, fans are encouraged to wear red in support of the Men’s National Team during the game at New Meadowlands Stadium.
Two-time FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi leads Argentina roster Kickoff for the team’s international friendly against Argentina is set for 7 p.m. ET with live coverage on ESPN2, Univision and ESPN3.com.
Designed by Nike, the creation of the red national team kit was driven by consumer demand and completes a trio of jerseys, each representing one of the three colors of the U.S. flag – red, white and blue. The environmentally-friendly jerseys are made entirely from recycled polyester, with each jersey being produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles. The evolved construction and materials significantly reduce the weight of the garment and ventilation, improving feel and performance.
With the same design as the white home kit and the blue away kit, the red version includes a blue sash and blue trim. In a unique campaign called “#RedAllOver” U.S. Soccer and Nike provided fans with the opportunity to write a new motto that will be featured on the U.S. Men’s National Team’s new red uniform.
John Lococo, President of Soccer Fanatic says, "The new USA 3rd jersey is bold statement that US soccer and the fans, are here to stay. This vibrant red color brings an intimidation factor unseen in the previous USMNT jerseys. I for one, am very inspired!!"
Fans had five days to submit their motto on Twitter and the most inspirational motto will be embroidered on the sleeve of the players’ uniforms they will wear against Argentina. As part of the “#RedAllOver” campaign, fans are encouraged to wear red in support of the Men’s National Team during the game at New Meadowlands Stadium.
